In honor of National Scrapbooking Day this Saturday, the TOM girls are sharing their stories of how they started scrapbooking and why they continue to love it so much. Here's little cutie pie Sara M's story...

I started scrapbooking in high school, I had a journaling assignment in my English class senior year, and mine ended up a scrapbook.  Since then...I haven't really stopped. I love scrapbooking because it's my own, I get to put the pictures in, and write the words and decide how they look on the page. No one else would make it exactly the same way! I get to preserve memories for myself and it's a great link to the past. I love looking back on my scrapbooks and remembering the way I felt, how hard I was laughing, and what we were talking about just before the picture was taken. Plus, it makes a great excuse to have a girl's night!

I love scrapbooking because it gives me a chance to capture the little things that are as much our families story as holidays and birthdays. That quirky saying or funny day (pajama day!) that we as a family celebrate. That it is also a creative outlet that keeps me sane is a bonus!

Die Cut Club...

...is super cute this month and it's THIS Saturday, May 2nd! That's right! Even though we are also hosting our huge National Scrapbook Day celebration on Saturday, we thought why not host both?

Classes are free for all Die Club Members! (To join, it's just $12 a year!) Classes held at 10am, 11am and 12pm!

why we love scrapbooking

In honor of National Scrapbook Day (which is coming up this Saturday, learn more here), the TOM girls are taking turns sharing what they love about scrapbooking. Today we get to hear from Mel...

I started scrapbooking by chance after a friend showed off her fabulous scrapbook about her wedding/honeymoon. The next day I rushed to the one and only store in town (I was still living in Kelowna, Canada then) and bought a trimmer, a tab dispenser and some patterned paper. Since then there's been
no looking back...I've had a desk in the middle of our living room with an ever expanding stash of supplies and now I have a fabulous scrapbook studio in our brand new home and waaaay too many supplies to ever use up. But shopping is part of the addiction that makes this hobby so much fun!
Anyway, the reason why I love scrapbooking first and foremost has to be the community of wonderful, giving and talented women that are scrappers. I have met so many new friends all over the world, including South Africa, Australia and many other places near & far, as well as my BFF who lives in Maryland, through this common interest. Megan & I met at Creative Escape, a scrapbook retreat in Phoenix, AZ and we immediately clicked. So much so that when I was the Grand Prize winner of a return trip for two the next year, I invited her to come along. Even though we live at opposite ends of the country we make a special effort to stay in touch and see each other at least once a year, if not more often. There are numerous other ladies who I look forward to visiting and I am blessed and privileged to call them friends after meeting through our mutual interest in scrapbooking.

Mother's Day is less than two weeks away...do you have any ideas on how to celebrate that special mom/aunt/sister/grandma in your life?

it's like a mini-book for your wall....

I LOVE Jolene's hanging album she made with a Kaiser mini-book and some beautiful papers and embellishments from My Mind's Eye Penny Lane. She even got creative and turned two of the pieces sideways to add a little pizazz to the project. These hanging album sets are only $4.99 and make perfect gifts (Mother's Day is coming up people...get started on those projects asap).

Our TOM girls have been so busy creating new fun samples to get your creative juices flowing!! Here are just a few that have popped up in our canvas section recently...
 
I am so in love with Lisa's 24"x48" canvas she created with just a splash of paint, a beautiful vinyl saying, 8x8 photos, and a few die-cut stars. So adorable....
